1954: Legation of Japan in Syria opened

1954: The establishment of diplomatic relations between Jordan and Japan

1954 November: Diplomatic relations between Lebanon and Japan was established 

1954: Delegation of Japan opened in Lebanon

1955: Iraq opened its Legation in Tokyo

1955: Diplomatic relations between Japan and Saudi Arabia was established

1956 January: Diplomatic relations between Japan and Sudan was established

1956 June: Diplomatic relations between Japan and Tunisia were established

1956: Visa Exemption Arrangement between Japan and Tunisia

1956: Diplomatic relations between Japan and Morocco was established

1957: Legal assistance agreement between Syria and Japan was signed

1957: Cultural Agreement between Japan and Egypt

1957: Diplomatic relations between Japan and Libya was established

1957: Delegation of Lebanon opened in Tokyo

1957 February: Japanese government established a Legation to Sudan (under Ambassador in Egypt)  

1958: Representative Office of Front de Liberation Nationale (FLN) was opened in Tokyo

1958: Saudi Embassy in Tokyo was established

1959: Lebanon and Japanese delegations upgraded to Embassies

1960: Recognition of Mauritania by Japan

1960: Trading Arrangement between Japan and Tunisia

1960: Trading Arrangement between Japan and Morocco

1960: Both Japan and Iraq Legations were upgraded to Embassies

1960: Japanese Embassy in Saudi Arabia was established in Jeddah

1960 July: Japan recognized the independence of Somalia

1961: Japanese Embassy opened in Morocco

1961 April: Japanese government upgraded the Legation to an Embassy  

1961 September: Sudanese government established an Embassy  

1962: Legation of Japan upgraded to Embassy of Japan

1962: Bilateral relationship established upon Japan's recognition of Algeria's independence

1963: Agreement between Japan and the United Arab Republic of Egypt for Air Services

1964: Japanese Embassy was opened in Algiers

1964: Algerian Embassy was opened in Tokyo

1964: Trade Agreement between Iraq and Japan  

1965: Moroccan Embassy opened in Japan

1967: Japan Oversees Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) arrangement between Syria and Japan was signed

1968: Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement between Iraq and Japan  

1969: Japanese Embassy opened in Tunisia

1969: Convention between Japan and the Arab Republic of Egypt for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Income Taxes

1969: Maritime Traffic and Aviation Mutual Income Tax Exemption Agreement between Japan and Lebanon was signed
